e-Packet problem from AliExpress

I ordered an item from AliExpress and the seller by mistake shipped it via AliExpress Standard Shipping instead of ePacket. I was talking to the seller and he swore that now AliExpress uses ePacket to the US as its standard option. I didn't believe it, even though the tracking number provided looked exactly the same as ePacket tracking numbers. However, today, 13 days later, I got the package, whereas many other products I ordered on the same date via ePacket are not here yet. Anyone had the same experience? Is it better to use AliExpress Standard Shipping now?
